Gifted and Talented Program Referrals are Now Open
March 2, 2026
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In accordance with the requirements of the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), our district provides services for students who are identified as Gifted and Talented (GT). We are now accepting referrals for students who may qualify for the district’s Gifted and Talented Program.
Definition of Gifted and Talented (Oklahoma)
Under Oklahoma law (70 O.S. §1210.301–308), students who are gifted and talented are those who demonstrate the potential for high performance capability and require differentiated or accelerated education programs beyond those normally provided in the regular school program. Students may demonstrate giftedness in one or more of the following areas:
Intellectual ability
Specific academic ability
Creative or divergent thinking
Leadership ability
Visual and/or performing arts
Giftedness may be exhibited by students of any race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background.
Referral Process
Parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, administrators, peers, and the students themselves may refer a student for consideration. A referral initiates a comprehensive review of multiple criteria, which may include:
Achievement data
Ability assessments
Classroom performance
Teacher input
Student products or portfolios
Additional relevant indicators
No single criterion is used to determine eligibility.
How to Submit a Referral
If you would like to refer your child (in grades PK-12; with the exception of 2nd grade-ALL 2nd Grade students will be tested) for the Gifted and Talented Program, please complete the referral form at the link below:
